Meet The Team
The team behind Tremont First Financial Services is made up of qualified financial professionals who are passionate about helping individuals and families achieve their ideal retirements.
Raymond (Ed) Whitaker, CLU®, CHFC® Investment Adviser Representative
Ed has been in the insurance and financial services industry since 1979. He is licensed to offer a wide range of financial and retirement planning solutions and prides himself on a results-focused approach. Raymond provides investment advisory services that are required to be provided in accordance with a fiduciary standard; this means that the advice must be in the best interest of the client with any conflicts of interest fully disclosed to the client for the duration of the client-advisor relationship. Conflicts of interest may include insurance recommendation. Clients are typically charged an ongoing fee based on a percentage of assets under management for advisory services.
Insurance products are sold based on the suitability standard at both the state and insurance carrier level; this means that product recommendations must meet the stated financial needs and objectives of the client at that time. Clients are typically charged a fee based on commission for insurance products/services.
“My goal is to stay in step with your changing objectives, the availability of new concepts, varying conditions in the financial markets and changes in tax law,” Ed says. “My primary focus is working with clients who are approaching or beginning retirement. Over the years, it has been my pleasure to work with local retirees of large companies, as well as business owners, medical professionals and corporate executives.”
Ed also has proudly served clients of The First National Bank in Tremont since 1997. His affiliation with the bank began when he was asked to establish and manage a financial services division to provide customers with convenient and wide-ranging financial consultations.
A graduate of Bradley University, Ed’s professional designations include Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow® (LUTCF®).
Active in the community, Ed is on the board of the Dirksen Congressional Library Board. In the past, he served on the Pekin Police Pension Board and was a board member for the Pekin Boys and Girls Club.
A Pekin resident since 1957, Ed and his wife, Kim, have two adult children, Nicklaus and Samantha, and three grandchildren, Parker and Eva. A competitive golfer, Ed has won the Pekin City title seven times and finished in the top 10 in the Illinois State Amateur four times. In 2014, Ed won the title of Illinois Senior State Amateur.
